This dark trail has an even darker history. About a quarter century ago, two rotting corpses were found alongside the trail—victims of an apparent murder suicide. Even without the backstory the place is spooky.
You’ll find me there in the dusky hours building new features, restoring old ones, fixing drainage issues, and just being generally ghoulish.
Buck the brush
They say that you haven’t lived till you’ve fucked with buck brush. A friend and I cleared a bit of corridor and since the soil was damp, we fixed some tread too. This important connector is finally rideable.… it just took summoning some latent frustration to make it happen

Riding a bit fast and a bit loose down Stein Butte I broke traction coming a bit hot into an off-camber outside turn. My rear wheel banged a tree, broke a spoke, and blew the tire about an hour ride from the truck. And it’s getting dark… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m guessing my horoscope this week reads something like, “Oh sweet Virgo, despite the cool weather you’re a hot mess and a traveling shitshow. But that’s just how you like it so enjoy.”
